Mission Statement
We believe we
are stewards of the abilities and opportunities we have received
to ease the suffering and infirmities of those who seek our aid
within the limitations of our specialty, eye care.
Accordingly, we are pledged to primarily consider the best
interests of our patients, to continually improve our skills, to
deal fairly with patients and staff, to be fiscally responsible,
and to work as a team to render excellent care.
Physician Bios:

Dr. William F. Prestowitz
has been in the practice of Ophthalmology since 1983. He
obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of
Delaware in 1977. He graduated from George Washington University
with a degree in Medicine in 1981. He completed a surgical
internship at Tripler Army Medical Center followed by a
residency in Ophthalmology at Brooke Army Medical Center in
1986. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and
is a Fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr.
Prestowitz is on staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Smyth
County Community Hospital, Wythe County Community Hospital and
St. Mary’s Hospital in Norton.

Dr. W. David Kiser has been
in practice since 1982. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree
from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1969 and graduated with a
degree in medicine from The Medical College of Virginia in 1974.
He competed an internship at Riverside Hospital in Newport News
Virginia and finished a residency in Ophthalmology at Wills Eye
Hospital in 1982. He is certified by the American Board of
Ophthalmology and is a Fellow in the American Academy of
Ophthalmology. Dr. Kiser is on staff at Smyth County Community
Hospital, Johnston Memorial Hospital, and Wythe County Community
Hospital.

Scott D.
Burnop, O.D. joined Eye Physicians of Southwest
Virginia in 2005. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania College of
Optometry in 1999 with a Doctorate of Optometry. He completed
internships at the Thomas Lynch Pediatric Unit in Philadelphia,
and the Eye Institute also located in Pennsylvania. Dr. Burnop
is a member of the Virginia Optometric Association and the
American Optometric Association. Dr. Burnop is a native of
Marion Virginia and is specializing in primary eye care, routine
vision exams and contact lenses.

Kathryn L. Reed, M.D. is a graduate from the University of Tennessee, Memphis with a degree of Doctorate of Medicine. Her undergraduate education includes a B.S. degree from Memphis State University and a Master of Science degree in chemistry from The University of Central Florida. Dr. Reed completed a Transitional Internship at Methodist Central Hospital, Memphis and a Residency in Ophthalmology at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. Dr. Reed is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is Board
Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Upon completion of her residency in Ophthalmology she practiced in Fort Smith Arkansas prior to joining Eye Physicians of Southwest Virginia. Dr. Reed is a native of Kingsport Tennessee. She is married, has one daughter and enjoys hiking and bike riding.
